Programs for School Libraries

Access Pennsylvania Program

More than 50 of our Philadelphia school libraries are members of this program, which provides a statewide union catalog to facilitate interlibrary loan and resource sharing.

Documents for School Libraries

The Library Programs office prepares a variety of specialized documents for our school libraries, including a Directory of School Libraries, a School Library Handbook, and ordering instructions for library materials.

Library Automation Systems

More than 100 of our schools have library automation systems. Most recently, the School District has chosen Follett Destiny as the recommended system for newly automated schools.

POWER Library Online Database Program

The POWER Library program (Pennsylvania Online World of Electronic Resources) is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The program provides many of our school libraries with free access to a wide variety of online databases.

A variety of workshops, technology training, and other professional development opportunities are provided for school library staff.
